Moulton Harrox’s fine form continues with two impressive weekend wins

Moulton Harrox continued their fantastic form in South Lincs and Border League Division One with a battling three-wicket win over Grantham 3rd on Saturday.

Having limited their hosts to 147-6 at Harrox Field, Moulton reached 151-7 in 33.3 overs to take 16 match points and climb up to third in the table.

Having been forced to bowl first, Harrox made an excellent start with the ball as Will Naylor (2-25) removed opener Max Everett for a duck.

Joe Broomfield (1-34) then trapped Louis Greetham (7) LBW, before Jack Barnett (3-28) bowled number three Fergus Myles (6) to leave Grantham in a spot of bother.

Barnett also had both Adrian Wing (6) and Lewis Bromfield (0) out LBW, but he and Harrox found Ian Robinson (64 not out) a tougher nut to crack.

The number four held Grantham’s innings together with an unbeaten half century, with Harry Robinson (14) and Craig Corby (18no) keeping him company to ensure Grantham batted out their overs.

Harrox lost opener Clive Bayston for a duck, but that man Barnett fired for them once again with a sizzling 67.

Nobody in any of the three South Lincs and Border League divisions has scored more than his tally of 732 runs for the season, which have come at an average of 146.

Laurence Price (25), Karl Hibbert (26) and Broomfield (21 not out) also contributed well as Harrox reached their target with three wickets to spare.

Next up for Martin Chapman’s charges is an away trip to Baston (1.30pm), who are fifth in the standings.

  • Joe Broomfield cracked a stunning 142 not out to steer Moulton Harrox 2nd to a great win at Ufford Park on Sunday.

The all-rounder’s terrific unbeaten ton helped Harrox chase down Ufford’s 232-2 to clinch a six-wicket success – and send them to the top of the table.

Moulton closed on 233-6, which earned them 16 match points and moves them 15 points clear at the top of Rutland League Division Six.

This Sunday sees them host third-placed Spalding Town (1.30pm).
