Your logo designs can help to make Spalding great

South Holland residents are being given the chance to get involved in the bid to make Spalding a shopping centre of excellence and choice.

People are being asked to get involved in the re-branding of the town by designing a logo and brand strapline.

The Town Centre Management Board (TCMB) believes that the promotion of Spalding’s heritage base including food, flowers and horticulture, as well as excellent retail, business services and leisure offerings will be a key part of the promotion strategy of the Town Centre Business Plan.

Newly appointed town centre manager Dennis Hannant said: “Spalding is not just another clone town, it provides a wide range of products and services from a large number of national and independent retailers.

“It is friendly, has easy-to-access places to shop and relax, with reasonably cheap parking compared with other towns in the area.

“Branding Spalding as a tourist destination based around the concept of food, heritage and lifestyle will encourage people to want to visit, live, work, shop and invest in the town.”

The TCMB is launching a competition to find a new logo and brand strapline for Spalding. These will appear on all town centre management letterheads, posters and flyers and, where appropriate, signage.

So if you have an eye for design or a mind for marketing, get your thinking cap on and design a logo that could be part of Spalding’s future.

The designer of the winning logo will receive £100 of vouchers, with £50 worth for the winner of the best strapline.

The vouchers have been donated by Hills Department Store, Beales Department Store and AlleyCatz Bowling.

The competition is open to anyone and the rules are:

  • All entries should be an original design and must be submitted by the designer. All entries should include a logo and a strapline.
  • Deadline for submissions is 5pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, and they can be either in freehand as hard copy or computer generated.

Entries, including name, phone number and/or email address, should be posted to Spalding Town Centre Manager, Business Development Centre, 10 Broad Street, Spalding, PE11 1TB or emailed to enquiries@lincs-chamber.co.uk

The best designs will be published in The Voice and readers will be asked to send in their comments on these before the judging panel make their decision and select the winners. The winners will be made public on December 29.

An award ceremony will be held in the New Year.
