A space themed Little Miracles session.

Little Miracles gets even bigger

A charity that organises sessions for parents and their disabled children is opening a new session in Holbeach.

The South Holland branch of Little Miracles was re-established last year by Elizabeth Kilbon whose 10-year-old son Jayden Batterham has ADHD.

The first sessions held every Friday at Tonic Health in Spalding are coming up to celebrating their first birthday with around 30 regular attendees.

Now the group are putting on another session at the Holbeach Hub which runs every other Tuesday between 10am and 11.30am.

“I was going with Jayden to Little Miracles sessions in Peterborough and I had to set something up in the Spalding area,” said Elizabeth. “Our sessions are inclusive for parents to come together and children to play together with others like them.

“Certainly with the Spalding sessions we try and do different themes for each session including soft play toys, different crafts or movie nights.

“Jayden absolutely loves it as it allows him the chance to play with children who he really clicks with.”

On top of the children playing, Liz says she’s also on hand to offer parents options as to where they can get further support, be it mentally or financially.

Little Miracles also does plenty of fundraising to put on trips for its members.

One such fundraiser is their Family Fun Day which is taking place at the Fun Farm in High Road Weston on Sunday, July 28.

From 11am to 4pm there will be a host of stalls, rides, games and fun on offer for all ages.

The money raised will go towards particularly special events.

“We try to put on trips out for our members,” Liz explained. “Quite often it can be difficult for parents of children with disabilities to take them places out.

“With our fundraising we can look to hire out a whole place such as the Fun Farm for our group and provide them with a memorable trip without having to worry about some of those difficulties.”

l Little Miracles is also the chosen charity for this year’s Crystal Charity Ball which takes place on Saturday,

November 24.

The event has raised more than £64,000 for charity since its inception as a memorial to Graham Mackman.

“We’re all parents so we wanted do something for a children’s charity this year,” said Melanie Coote. “Little Miracles do fantastic work in the local community so we’re delighted to be able to raise money for them.”

Tickets already sold out with a waiting list, but businesses and organisations can still help by donating raffle and auction prizes as well as sponsoring tables.
