LETTERS – We need to take back control

Remoaners are confused if they think we voted to leave the EU in 2016 because we blame them for problems with the NHS, housing or other domestic issues.

Let’s be crystal clear, we voted to Leave the EU and ‘Take Back Control’ of our laws, borders and economy.

They are the three pillars that underpin Brexit and our absolute determination that GB should continue to survive as an independent, self-governing nation.

Nearly everyone I speak to who voted leave and the thousands more who are joining us are in almost universal agreement why they voted to leave the EU.

First and foremost – democracy and control of our own laws. In a nutshell the EU is anti-democratic!

The EU Commission is no better than the Politburos of China or the old Soviet Union.

Why are so many of our laws made by the undemocratic, unelected, and unaccountable Eurocrats in Brussels?

When was the last time you voted for any of the EU Commissioners?

Why does the EU have two Parliaments with the one in France used for just four days a year at a cost of £200 million PA to the taxpayer? Such waste in the EU is just the tip of the iceberg.

Second, control of our economy – the EU is a political, not a trade project. The EU’s one size fits all approach to diverse economies; excessive tariffs on imports; excessive red tape; their inability to play by the rules; and regressive approach to trade is holding us back.

The most successful economies innovate, are low tax, and low regulation. Innovation is anathema to the EU’s one size fits all approach.

Third, the need to control our borders – we have had a population explosion since 2004 and putting it bluntly, it is completely out of control.

Nett immigration has rocketed from just 40,000 a year in the late 90s to over 350,000 a year since 2004.

That level of immigration is unsustainable and is putting our frontline public services, and housing under incredible strain.

We need a system that works for Britain, not the EU!

The case for leaving the EU is stronger than ever before. We must leave the EU and ‘Take Back Control’ of our country.
