LETTERS – Appalling voting record

May I suggest that Mr Livsey (Letters, July 16) examines the voting record of Sir John Hayes and then explains how this has been of benefit to local people.

As has been said before in this column, Sir John has an appalling record of voting for every Tory government proposal promoting austerity and bringing hardship and poverty to many people and against measures to improve human rights or protect the environment.

Perhaps Mr Livsey might also care to comment on why, if Sir John is so hard working, where does he get the time for his “extramural” activities.

I think that we, the taxpayers and providers of his income, are due an explanation.
