LETTER: Why can’t we sell our house?

How does one sell a property in this town?
We have our property on the market with an established local agent and have had more photographs taken than a supermodel, but our property, a Broadgate Home which is two years old, has not had any interest.
The price has been reduced from £240K to £220K.
The house is like a show home and the agent’s pictures do it justice.
One of our agents erected a For Sale board outside the property and I have been informed that Broadgate Homes has instructed them to remove it.
You cannot advertise your property as being for sale, you cannot rent the property, you cannot sell to an investor, what the hell can you do?
Does Spalding have a problem when it comes to selling homes?
Do the people that live here have no taste in a nice home?
Is there too much property on sale with five per cent deposit and 20 per cent Government Help to Buy which is attracting Eastern Europeans, making houses too cheap and bringing this area down to an all time low with the property market?
Do you have to give your property away?
We moved to Spalding some 16 months ago and on the face of it, Spalding seemed a nice place to be, but as time has gone on, we realise this is a dead town, populated by people who are rude, with no prospects, minimum wage earners, shops closing, pubs that are the most inhospitable places which we would not attempt to spend our money in. All in all a woeful area which is borderline lawless in the evening and it seems that we are marooned.
Other than giving our home away, please can you shed some light as to what people are to do to leave this area of the country?
Did we buy ourselves a one way ticket?
