LETTER: If Hayes is so popular, why must he rely heavily on cronies for quotes?

I couldn’t help but notice that in last week’s edition (May 25), there was a full page advert by the Conservative Party, demonstrating all the wonderful things that our illustrious MP has done over his time in the role.

I can’t deny that he clearly seems to have done something for the area, or else people wouldn’t be voting for him.

However, I can’t help but wonder why a man clearly as popular as he is would decide to resort to using blatantly biased sources for the quotes at the bottom of the advert. No less than four of the seven quotes were attributed to Conservative Party candidates for the recent Lincolnshire County Council elections. Four out of seven! (verified from April 13 edition)

Surely a man with such a high level of public support would be able to receive praise such as this from the average person from the street, rather than, in my opinion, resorting to underhanded tactics to paint himself in a pretty light? It seems rather dishonest to me, but, to be fair, the only reason I noticed was because I was at the count for the LCC election myself, having stood as one of the Liberal Democrat candidates.

I may be biased against Mr Hayes, and you, dear reader, can judge my opinion as you see fit, but I know I don’t trust him to represent our best interests if he can’t put the faith in us to speak his praises.
