Halfway to target for funeral fund appeal

An appeal to raise £3,000 towards the funeral costs of murder victims Liz and Katie Edwards has almost reached the halfway mark.

The JustGiving page was launched by former Spalding flower queen Amy Cook-Nykyforczuk shortly after the bodies of dinner lady Liz (49) and her 13-year-old Katie, were found in their home in Dawson Avenue on April 15.
Amy said she was prompted to raise money towards the funerals even though she did not know either of them because she felt she needed to do something to help.
The total raised is now hovering around the £1,500 mark with dozens of people coming foward to pitch in £5 or £10, saying they had been moved by what had happened to Liz and Katie.
One said: “Both mother and daughter’s lives have been so cruelly cut short by a brutal and frenzied act – R.I.P.”
A second donor commented: “I think a lot of people want to do something to show their sadness, support shock even. By organising this fundraiser it’s given us a way to pay our respects.”
And a third added: “It’s great to see people come together at such a tragic time and this kind of support will mean so much to all concerned!”
Liz’s partner Graham Green and her eldest daughter Mary Cunningham have both thanked everyone who has supported them and given to the appeal.
Mary said: “Thankyou to everyone who has donated so far, it means so much.”
Graham added: “To Amy and all the people who have helped, thankyou from the bottom of my heart.”
