Golfers give cash boost to cancer charity

A cancer charity is more than £3,000 better off thanks to Spalding Golf Club.
Former Lady Captain Beryl Clay presented a cheque for £3,266 to a representative from Breast Cancer Now.
The money was raised during Beryl’s captaincy through members’ generous donations, playing in fun competitions, raffles, book sales and baking cakes.
Beryl was delighted by the amount raised and Caroline from the charity gave a brief overview to lady members of how the money would be used to support ladies receiving a breast cancer diagnosis.
42 ladies competed over 15 holes for the Hazel Peck Trophy in the ladies’ Turkey Trot.
First was Jacquie Walton with 31pts (ocb), second Elaine Hancock 31pts and third Dianne Rafferty 30pts.
A delicious Christmas dinner and prize presentation was enjoyed, by all after the golf.
