Four in court over Christmas Day street fight broken up using pepper spray

A Christmas Day street fight in Spalding had to be broken up using pepper spray and resulted in three men and a woman spending that night in the cells, a court has heard.

Danian Buczynski. 27, of West Parade, Patrick Zukowski, 28, Lukasz Czylz, 34, and Angelika Buczynska, 32, all of Winsover Road admitted a variety of charges, including assaulting police officers, obstructing and resisting the police and threatening words and behaviour.

Prosecuting, Marie Stace said police were called to Winsover Road at 5.45pm on Christmas Day after reports were made of men and women fighting in the street.

She said officers attempted to find out what had happened but one of them resisted being searched and had to be taken to the ground and others became aggressive.

Ms Stace said Czylz pushed an officer who was trying to use his pepper spray to subdue one of them and Buczynski hit an officer’s hand to stop him using the spray.

She said eventually all the parties were arrested and remained in custody until Boxing Day.

Mitigating for all four of them, Rebecca Freitas said the four ‘could give no explanation as to what had happened as they were too intoxicated to remember what had happened’.

She did point out that none of the officers was harmed but all four wanted to apologise for what had happened, particularly as it was on a family day.

Damian Buczynski was fined a total of £1,015 and ordered to pay court costs and charges totalling £123.

Patrick Zukowski was fined a total of £240 and ordered to pay a total of £119 in court costs and charges and £50 compensation.

Angelika Buczynska was fined a total of £705 and ordered to pay a total of £119 in court costs and charges, and Lukasz Czylz was fined a total of £500 and ordered to pay a total of £119 in court costs and charges and £50 compensation.
