Floral gold for bulb firm

A South Holland company is celebrating being awarded a coveted Chelsea Flower Show Gold Award – for the 31st time.

The team at Taylors Bulbs in Holbeach, has been awarded a Gold for the 29th consecutive time at the world-famous event.
They selected more than 100 varieties to grow for the show and planted 22,500 bulbs last autumn. Just 555 made the cut for the display in the show’s Grand Pavilion.
“As usual, this year provided its own unique challenges with everything flowering early outdoors. The bulbs are planted after Christmas and kept temperature-controlled until they go into the greenhouse four weeks before Chelsea,” said Charlotte Daubney, who manages the show preparation.
The display is re-staged twice during the week-long show in order to keep the high standard until the event is over.
The company celebrated its centenary in 2019.
