Boston Magistrates Court as seen on Google Streetview

Drunk driver sped at up to 100mph along A16

Drink driving at speeds up to 100mph has cost a Spalding driver his licence and almost £1,000 in fines and costs.

Georgi Kisov, 22, of Church Street, who admitted driving with excess alcohol and speeding, was said to have been seen in his BMW car by the driver of an unmarked police vehicle travelling at speeds up to 100mph on the A16 in Spalding in the early hours of July 29.

Prosecuting at Boston Magistrates Court, Emma Lant told the court Kisov overtook the unmarked police vehicle and a lorry in front of that and was stopped and provided a positive breath test with a reading of 44microgrammes of alcohol in his breath. The legal limit is 35.

Mitigating, Philippa Chatterton said Kisov had been at a friend’s house and ‘had a couple of beers’ and had ‘taken advantage of the early hours when there was little traffic about’.

Kisov, who has no previous convictions, was fined £400 on each of the two offences and ordered to pay a total of £125 in costs and charges.

He was banned from driving for 14 months on the excess alcohol offence and for one month concurrent for the speeding offence, but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course, which will reduce the period of the ban by 14 weeks.
