Drink driver who ended up stuck in central reservation banned for third time

A man who drove on the wrong side of a road and ended up stuck on the central reservation with two flat tyres had two previous convictions for driving with excess alcohol, a court has heard.

After police were called to John Adams Way in Boston the driver was arrested after providing a positive breath test which indicated he was more than three times over the legal maximum for alcohol.

Pavels Gavrilciks, 31, of Green Lane, Holbeach admitted failing to provide an evidential sample of breath
for analysis at the police station.

Prosecuting at Boston Magistrates Court, Marie Stace said police were informed after he was seen driving
on the wrong side of the road at 3.30pm on August 14 and he was arrested but failed to provide a sample
of breath for analysis at the police station.

Ms Stace said he had previous convictions for excess alcohol offences in 2013 and 2015.

Gavrilciks, who was not represented, said he ‘really regretted’ what had happened and he would be losing his job as a tractor driver.

District Judge Peter Veits said the offence and his record justified custody and sentenced him to six weeks
in prison, but suspended it for a year.

He was also ordered to undergo 150 hours of unpaid work for the community and was banned from
driving for four years.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £239 in court costs and charges.
