Don’t miss out on helping heritage

Time is running out for South Holland residents to add ideas to a heritage strategy for the area.

South Holland District Council is working with Heritage Lincolnshire to create a strategy for Spalding.
Over the next ten years, the Spalding Heritage Strategy will see groups and funders join forces with the district and county council.
A survey online is due to end on Monday, April 8 and it asks for suggestions for heritage ideas.
The subject can cover buildings and structures as well as natural areas and landscapes.
Even intangible traditions like local folklore can be included as part of the strategy.
Once the feedback has been incorporated, the strategy will be handed over to the district council for an official adoption process.
“We would love to hear from you. This last opportunity to hear the thoughts and feedback of local people is crucial to making sure the strategy best reflects the priorities and needs of Spalding,” said Tracey Stringfellow, chief executive of Heritage Lincolnshire.
“This is the last opportunity to hear the thoughts and feedback of local people is crucial to making sure the strategy best reflects the priorities and needs of Spalding,” she added.
Coun Gary Taylor, deputy leader of South Holland District Council, said: “We have already had some great feedback from local residents, community groups and partners on this strategy, and I would encourage people to take this final opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback.”
The document and accompanying sustainable action plan will be used to prioritise and support the development of heritage sites and projects over the next five to ten years.
It will also showcase the connections and collaboration which highlights the town’s heritage.
“It’s important that this project reflects the priorities and needs of Spalding and the surrounding area, and makes the greatest positive impact possible to the environment and experience of living, working or visiting the town centre and riverside,” added Coun Taylor.
