Cricket round-up: Awesome Ollie smashes unbeaten ton for Spalding Town 3rd, Simpson takes five for Sutton

Ollie Dring scored an incredible century to inspire Spalding Town 3rd to a dominant 91-run victory over Sleaford 3rd on Sunday.

First team regular Dring, who was one of a few players to drop down the leagues with their side without a game, cracked 127 not out from 100 balls before retiring at Seas End Hall.

His century included 17 fours and three sixes and built the foundation for a team total of 256-1 batting first.

Opening partner Neo Timothy (30) was the only man out, while Jay White (51 from 72 balls) and Will Gardner (31 from 48 balls) were both unbeaten at the end of Spalding’s 45 overs.

Sleaford made 165-2 in reply, with Nathan Titley (75) and Tom Sanders (58 not out) scoring well.

Barnaby Dring (1-7) and Timothy (1-33) took the wickets for Town, who collected 16 points and sit seventh in the table.

Also in Division Two, this time on Saturday, Spalding 3rd suffered a hefty 190-run thrashing at Skegness 2nd.

Will Gardner (2-41) and Joe Watson (2-48) did well with the ball but George Gregory’s 75 and plenty of other solid knocks set a huge target for Town.

Spalding were all out for 65 in reply, with William (22) and Nigel Gardner (15) the only two to make double figures.

There was also a defeat for Long Sutton 2nd, who lost by 33 runs at Castor and Ailsworth on Saturday.

The hosts made 233-5 batting first, before Sutton’s second string managed 200-3 in their 45 overs in reply.

Up in the Premier Division, Long Sutton collected maximum points from their clash with Bourne 2nd at Paradise Field.

Rob Simpson spun his way to figures of 5-64 as Sutton bowled their rivals out for 150 in 35.3 overs at Paradise Field.

Josh Baker (2-28) and Jake Burton (2-28) also starred for Sutton, while Tom Patchett impressed with 93 before falling to Simpson.

In reply, Adam Wright (38), Adam Whitaker (23), Barry Stanway (23 not out) and Angus Bell (22) then shared the burden of the run chase as Sutton eased to 156-4 in just 26.4 overs to seal the success.

Fellow top tier side Moulton Harrox lost by 57 runs at Freiston, though.

Three wickets each from Matt Rose (3-30) and Max Cusack (3-33) couldn’t stop the hosts making 259-8 batting first, Zeeshan Saeed making 49.

Jack Barnett top scored with 69 and Henry Lavery (32) also impressed, but Moulton were all out for 202 in 43.3 overs.

They did, however, pick up nine valuable match points – but remain in the bottom two.

Down in Division One, Spalding 2nd were on the receiving end of a 205-run thrashing at Heckington.

Will Charlesworth starred for the hosts with 134 from just 110 balls before becoming one of Neo Timothy’s (4-60) four victims.

Chris Morley (77) and Steve Scott (58 not out) also made half-centuries as Heckington hammered 310-4 in 45 overs.

Mohammad Alam (31), Timothy (36) and Matt Gill (26) all scored well at the top of the order, but seven of their team-mates made ducks as Spalding slumped to 105 in 28.5 overs with Robbie Townsend taking 6-19.

Moulton Harrox 2nd, meanwhile, conceded to Newborough and had to take a ten-point deduction on the chin.
