Comeback kings strike again as late Smith strike gives Spalding United a fine win

Spalding United 4 Soham Town Rangers 3

Gregg Smith and Jordan Macleod both scored twice as Spalding United produced another remarkable Tuesday night comeback to beat Soham Town Rangers 4-3.

The Tulips fell 2-0 down in the Pitching In NPL Midland DIvision clash inside the first half an hour, with Ben Seymour-Shove striking for Soham on 11 and 27 minutes.

Spalding skipper Gregg Smith pulled a goal back in the dying seconds for the first period, but Gaby Zakuani’s side looked beaten when ex-Tulip Sam Mulready netted on 52 minutes.

However, Macleod began the comeback with a goal on 72 minutes, before the same player levelled matters with only nine minutes left to play.

Amazingly, striker Smith then put Spalding ahead for the first time soon after (84) to complete a comeback that echoed the super 3-2 success over Stamford last month.
