Chances to light up to remember

A celebration will be held in Spalding in December, to remember loved ones at a difficult time of year.

St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice is inviting the local community to remember a loved one at Christmas at their annual Light up a Life celebration in Spalding.

This unique celebration is a special time for families and friends to join together in remembering the people that they love in a reflective environment.

Taking place on Sunday, December 15, the celebration will begin at 3pm at St John the Baptist Church, Hawthorn Bank, Spalding.

The celebration will feature touching readings, music and a time for quiet reflection; candles will also be lit in remembrance. It will last approximately 1-1.5 hours, is free to attend and open to everyone, regardless of faith.

For those unable to attend, there is also a celebration in Boston on Sunday, December 1, at 2pm at Salvation Army, 59-61 High Street.

Another upcoming event is Lincolnshire’s famous Torchlight Procession, which takes place on Tuesday, November 26, in Lincoln.

The Torchlight Procession will meet at 7pm at Clayton’s Sports Ground and aims to set off at around 7.30pm.

There is no need to book in advance for the celebration, but the Hospice is asking people to register their attendance if they are coming to the Torchlight Procession in Lincoln.

The Torchlight Procession involves thousands of local residents joining forces to walk through Lincoln’s iconic Bailgate, carrying flaming torches in memory of loved ones.

Due to the works currently taking place at Lincoln Cathedral, the Lincoln Tree of Life will stand outside the Lincoln Hotel for one year only.
