Booth leads the South Holland challenge at stock car racing season opener

Stock car racing is back with a bang at the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn on Saturday as the first meeting of the season gets into gear.

The traditional season opener is a meeting that fans and drivers travel from all around the UK and even across from Holland to enjoy.

With as many as 170 cars booked in to compete at the venue, it’s sure to be a night not to miss.

Three top class formulas are scheduled for the night – and South Holland drivers will lead the charge with several likely to be in contention for top honours.

In the 1300 Stock Cars World of Shale champion Dan Booth, from Spalding, will be one of the favourites to take the chequered flag.

Spalding’s Ricky Ivatt will be hoping that his new car, debuted late last year, will be up to speed on Saturday, too.

In the bigger 2 Litre Stock Cars, all eyes will be on Long Sutton father and son duo Simon and Rowan Venni.

Simon is one of the hardest hitting drivers within the formula and Rowan is making his debut in the adult classes after a successful few season in the juniors.

The F2 Stock Car class, however, could possibly top the billing with almost 90 of them scheduled for battle.

A number of them from the South Holland area too, with Spalding-based brothers Jack and Pat Issit looking to take proceedings by storm.

Pat already has a few race wins under his belt and will be hoping to add more silverware to the trophy cabinet.

Veteran racer Barry Clow will also be looking to fly the flag – and no slouch on the shale could see him up front in the running order at the chequered flag.

The action-packed entertainment for family and friends at the Adrian Flux Arena gets under way from 5.30pm on Saturday.

Ahead of what promises to huge evening of stock car action, fans are urged to check http://www.stockcar-racing.co.uk/ for all race day updates and information before travelling.

Children aged 11 and under go free, while family tickets are also available.
