Best-ever Johnson Community Hospital ball raises £5,000

Seaside fun at the eighth – and best – annual Johnson Community Hospital Ball raised £5,000.

Five hundred guests were at this year’s ‘A Beach Ball’ event, raising money to directly support patients, visitors and staff at the hospital. Proceeds are to be divided between the hospital’s League of Friends and Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) Charitable Funds.

Johnson Community Hospital ball venueThe event at Springfields Events and Conference Centre, Spalding, saw guests dance to 80s tribute band The Wild Boys and Leo Promotions Disco. The room was filled with beach balls, sandcastles and fun fair games, such as hook-a-duck and sharks and mermaids. There was also a grand prize draw and silent auction.

Sister at Johnson Community Hospital and ball organiser Sally Brown said: “It was a fantastic evening with tickets completely sold out.

“The beach theme was a roaring success and it was amazing to see so many people come out to support the hospital. It was definitely the best ball yet.”

Sponsors Spalding motors dealership EMG and Moore Thompson accountants, along with a host of other companies who generously donated prizes.

This year’s fundraising takes the overall total to £26,000, all of which has gone back to support those who use and work at the hospital.

Plans for next year’s event are already taking shape, with the scheduled date of Saturday, July 8.
