Author Erin is top of her class

An award-winning Gosberton 12-year-old who has helped other children like herself in battling anxiety has been setting records in her school.

Erin Smith recently landed the Young Achiever Award at the Pride of South Holland Awards after the book she’d written aged ten, Kiki the Worry Monster, was rolled out for other young people to read.

She was encouraged to take on the project by Healthy Minds Lincolnshire, a group she’d been referred to.

And Erin’s doing so well that in her first year at Thomas Cowley High School she earned ‘the most positive points in the history of the school’.

Mum Michelle said: “She always wants to help others.

“She still struggles at times but has coping mechanisms in place and is a little superstar as well as a focussed student at school.

“In fact in her first year at high school, we received a letter from the head stating she had amassed the most positive points in the history of the school.

“She was very overwhelmed, firstly to get nominated, secondly shortlisted for the Pride of South Holland Award. Winning was the cherry on the cake!

“We are incredibly proud of her.”
