A taste of normality returns as Pinchbeck heads to park

It wasn’t the village’s normal carnival and there was still plenty of social distancing –but last Sunday a glimpse of normality returned to Pinchbeck.

Picnic in the Park proved a hit as villagers came together to look around the host of stalls and attractions laid on for free.

The event was organised by the Pinchbeck Carnival Association after it became apparent that for a second successive year the carnival wouldn’t be able to take place as it normally does.

But instead the committee looked at the government guidance and put on the Picnic in the Park event.

Organisers did not charge people to enter or to have stalls leading to 45 of them for people to browse.

There was also a display of classic and modified cars, games, food and drink and entertainment.

But most importantly it provided an opportunity to come together for an event.

The chair of the Pinchbeck Carnival Association Chris Schofield said: “It went really well.

“I think people were relieved to get out and to get back to a bit of normality.

“We’ve had really good feedback and a lot of people came.

“We’ve had to go through a lot of paperwork with the COVID-19 restrictions and ensuring everyone was safe.

“But it was all worth it and everyone behaved, kept their distance and washed their hands to ensure everyone had a good day.”
