Long Sutton school gets rebuild boost

A Long Sutton school is to be rebuilt as part of a government programme.

University Academy Long Sutton has been announced as one of the 61 schools in the county to be part of the Government’s flagship School Rebuilding Programme.

A school spokesman said: “The new buildings will be energy efficient designs with high sustainability standards and will be net zero in operation offering excellent facilities.

“They will transform the learning environment and support teachers to deliver high-quality education, so pupils gain the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need to succeed.”

Current and future parents and pupils will be able to see and contribute to the designs of the new buildings and UALS says it will keep everyone up to date through a special section on the Academy website.

Liam Davé, principal at University Academy Long Sutton, said: “This is wonderful news. I am delighted for the young people of Long Sutton and surrounding wards. We are all very excited for the future of the school and the local community.”

Steve Baragwanath, Executive Principal/DCEO at University Academy Long Sutton, added: “This is excellent news which enables us to improve provisions for the youngsters in the area – something which has been long term ambitions for the Trust.”

Andrew Everard, Chair of Governors at University Academy Long Sutton, commented: “The governing body is delighted with the superb news of the new buildings for the community.”

Vice Chancellor University of Lincoln, Neal Juster said: “This is fantastic news for the community and for our staff.”
