Zakuani has ‘unfinished business’ as he signs up to be Tulips boss next season

Spalding United manager Gabriel Zakuani has signed on to manage the Tulips for the 21/22 season.

The former Peterborough United and Gillingham player officially took on the mantle in October, initially in a caretaker role.

He was given the job full time, but the Pitching In Northern Premier South East Division was suspended just one game later, a 3-3 draw at Belper Town that saw a host of exciting new signings feature including ex Premier League striker Nile Ranger.

While the current campaign looks set to be null and voided, Zakuani has committed to the Tulips for the 21/22 season.

He said: ““I’m delighted to commit my immediate future to the club. It’s a project that I truly believe in.

“The prospect of a full pre-season with this talented squad and a few additions is something I’m very excited about!”

Spalding CEO Leigh Porter commented: “With this season looking like it’s going to fade out into null and void we’ve started to plan for what a new season will look like, Gaby has been committed to the vision of the club from day one and we were extremely keen to have him part of the club moving forward.

“He has unfinished business and this news is fantastic for the club in the current climate.

“He’s not been able to really show what he can do, bows his chance, we thank him for his commitment and loyalty”
