Washout halts Spalding Town’s title charge as Sleaford 2nd clash is abandoned

Rain hit Spalding Town’s South Lincs and Border League Premier Division title chances on Saturday as their huge clash at Sleaford 2nd was abandoned.

The day’s big game between leaders Town and second-placed Sleaford 2nd ended with Spalding having scored 197-7, Hafiz Majeed hitting 80 and Dan Milgate 57, before rain stopped play.

This gave the Spalding four points to Sleaford’s three, meaning Rob Ambrose’s now have a 39-point advantage ahead of their season finale against Stamford.

But, with two games in hand, Sleaford are still in with a chance of pipping them to the title.

No games were completed across the three divisions, although Moulton Harrox conceded against Heckington in Division One.
