Two more F3 podiums for Hoggard after difficult opener at Silverstone

Johnathan Hoggard enjoyed another hugely successful weekend in the BRDC British F3 Championship at Silverstone.

The Weston Hills speedster shrugged off a difficult qualifying session to take eighth position in race one having started 17th due to a penalty carried over from the previous round.

He then bounced back to secure impressive second places in races two and three.

That leaves the Fortec Motorsports ace 36 points behind series leader Clement Novalak after nine rounds.

Hoggard told the official F3 website: “It’s not too bad, I think we got the maximum we could out of the weekend, bearing in mind we came into it with a penalty.

“It’s been a tough one but nonetheless still some really good results and a massive thanks to Fortec because I don’t think I’d have been able to deliver the results I did without the car they have given me.

“There’s still a really long time to go in the championship, we’ve got to come back here again, two Donington rounds which I believe the Fortec car will be really strong at, and also Spa and tracks where I enjoy like Brands Hatch so I think the rest of the season is up for grabs and all to play for.”

Speaking after race two, he added: “The car felt amazing, Fortec did a really good job with setting it up, it’s been feeling really good all weekend.

“It’s just we’ve had the issues and setbacks with the grid penalty for race one and a slight penalty at the end of race one which put me back a place.

“I got a really good start and picked them off one by one from there.”

The next round of the championship sees Hoggard visit Donington Park on June 22/23.
