The Pennygate Foundation charity really going places with Spalding Round Table minibus donation

The Pennygate Foundation has a minibus to help with its work, thanks to Spalding and District Round Table.

The £9,500 Vauxhall Vivaro means the Spalding charity can bring in people who are housebound or in rural areas to enjoy activities and meals at its Pennygate base.
The vehicle will also be used to provide a meals on wheels service and for transporting its youth club.

Brenda Wickham, who started the project with Dr Azmeena Nathu, of neighbouring Pennygate Health Centre, in 2012 said: “I’m really grateful to the Round Table – it’s going to get lots of use.”

The Pennygate Foundation caters for all ages and is open on Christmas Day too. Every day between noon and 2pm a two-course meal with five options is offered for £5.

Table chairman Sam Nundy said: “It’s a great pleasure that we’re able to support this local community initiative.
“Through donating this minibus, even more local people can benefit from the wonderful work which The Pennygate Foundation does on a daily basis.”

Anyone who can spare an hour or two as a volunteer driver is asked to call 01775 421001.

The minibus was the Table’s biggest single donation since a bladder scanner for Johnson Community Hospital in 2011.
