Ten years of Moulton Mill

Moulton Windmill, the tallest working mill in the UK, celebrates its ten-year anniversary on Wednesday.

To mark the occasion the Mill will be open to visitors from 10am to 4pm.

Why not go along and celebrate with staff and take a free tour of the Mill?

Spalding Folk Club will be performing in the tearooms from 1pm to 4pm and local artists Carol Parker and Angela Daymond will be showcasing the new Woad project with hands-on activities for young and old.

Refreshments, as always, will be available in the Granary Tearooms and there are lots of treats and gifts for sale in the Mill shop.

Moulton Windmill was listed in 1967 and is an important landmark in the Fens. It featured on the English Heritage at risk register, and was removed from that register in 2005 after the first phase of restoration was completed.

Moulton Windmill Project has successfully restored the Mill to full wind power, a journey that has taken 14 years to complete.

The 100ft ten-storey tower mill is the tallest working windmill in the country and production of wholemeal flour began in 2012.

Project manager Janet Prescott said: “We welcome over 20,000 visitors a year to this amazing building. The fact that we are still here today is down to the support and dedication of our volunteers and sponsors. We receive no financial support from any organisation and rely solely on our income to keep this building open.

“The journey wasn’t easy but the reward of getting this Mill back to full working order is priceless.

“Why not come along on Wednesday, enjoy a free tour and see for yourself what this building has to offer?”
