Sticking it to the virus

When it comes to drumming up support for key workers, you really can’t beat Dexter Atkinson.

The nine-year-old has taken to marking the now weekly 8pm applause for the NHS on a Thursday by playing the drum kit in the family’s shed.

Dexter likes to show his support for key workers, including his mum Katy Warnes-Jansons, who works as a community care assistant.

The Weston Hills Primary School pupil says his drumming hero is Blink 182 sticksman Travis Barker.

Mum Katy said: “I am very proud of him.

“He says he is proud of me and thanks me every Thursday for doing the job I do.”
