Resigned Rayment returns to see late, late show to ensure it’s not unlucky 13 for Spalding United

Norton United 2 Spalding United 2: Pat Rayment – who quit as Spalding boss on Friday – was back in the dugout to see Tom Waumsley grab a last-gasp equaliser and extend the Tulips’ unbeaten league run to 13 matches.

Just five minutes earlier, Lee Clarke had given Spalding hope with a goal to bring it back to 2-1.

Norton had established a two-goal lead through Jon Beaumont (45) and Michael Lennon (56).

Spalding drop to fifth in the Evo-Stik League First Division South as a result of the draw, leapfrogged on goal difference by Leek Town. But the Tulips – including Rayment – will take that given that they were staring at defeat on 80 minutes.

The Voice has so far been unable to contact Rayment for comment.

The Tulips head to Stamford AFC on Tuesday (7.45pm) for a Lincs Senior Cup quarter-final.
