Spalding United reveal pre-season plans and seal deal to bring back striker Siddons

Spalding United have revealed their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2018/19 season – and it includes a number of juicy fixtures.

Chris Rawlinson’s Tulips get their friendly fixtures under way with a trip to Ruston Sports on Saturday, July 7 (3pm).

They then make the trip to Lincs FA Senior Trophy finalists Grimsby Borough on Saturday, July 14 (3pm) before making the trip to Carter’s Park for a derby with perennial rivals Holbeach United on Tuesday, July 17 (7.30pm).

The Tulips then have their plum Lincs FA Senior Cup first round clash with Lincoln City on Friday, July 20 (7.45pm).

That fixture is scheduled to be at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, but Spalding may have to switch the fixture if landlords South Holland District Council stick to their usual guidelines of not allowing any fixtures at the venue until August 1.

The Tulips are back in friendly action at ChromaSport UCL Premier Division outfit Peterborough Northern Star on Monday, July 23 (7.30pm), then hope to host their only home friendly on

Saturday, July 28 against Worksop Town (3pm).

Again, they’ll need to seek approval from the council to get that match given the green light.

Spalding’s final pre-season date will see them make the short trip to Deeping Rangers, another UCL Premier Division outfit, on Tuesday, July 31 (7.45pm).

The league season begins on August 18 – and the Tulips’ squad is slowly beginning to take shape.

Meanwhile, Spalding have made their first signing of the summer – and it’s a familiar face.

Striker Tom Siddons, who enjoyed a brief loan spell with the Tulips from King’s Lynn Town in February, has agreed to join on a long-term basis after being released by the Linnets.

He netted on his debut against Stocksbridge Park Steels and will provide competition for current strikers Gary King and Jonny Lockie.

Manager Rawlinson has also added former Lincoln City Youth Academy talent Archie Moyses, who spent much of last season with Sleaford Town, to his squad.

Scott Floyd, who was the Spalding United under-21 manager’s player of the season, has been promoted to the first-team squad, too.

Spalding have also reduced their season ticket prices for the upcoming 2018/19 season.

An adult season ticket now costs £100, which includes admission to home pre-season friendlies and home Lincs FA Senior Trophy matches as well as all of the Tulips’ home league matches.

A concession season ticket is now £60, with the holder enjoying all of the same benefits as bestowed on the adult version. The youth season ticket (for ages 12-16) now costs £30.

All under-12s will be admitted FREE of charge throughout 2018/19, assuming they are accompanied by a paying adult.

The price on the gate is £8 for adults and £6 for concessions, with youths (12-16) charged £2.

The Tulips have introduced a special Matchday Admission Package, which will include entry to the game, a copy of the Tulips Review matchday programme, a quarter-pound burger from the new concession stand and a pint of draught beer/lager or glass of wine.

The cost for that is £12 for adults and £10 for concessions or students.
