Spalding 3rd defeated by Sleaford

Spalding 3rd were defeated by Sleaford in South Lincs and Border League Division Two.

Playing at Ancaster CC, the home side enjoyed the first use of the track and racked up 203-3 with opener Tom Brooke carrying his bat for a fine 93 not out that included six fours and a six.

Fellow opener Jake Henderson scored 42 until Neo Timothy (1-36) trapped him lbw.

Jack Sawyer (2-45) picked up two wickets having William Blankley (11) caught by Symon De Camos before bowling Kyle Templeman (5).

Neil Henderson (17 not out) joined Brooke to see Sleaford to 203-3.

Spalding enjoyed a great start to the reply with Sawyer scoring 23 and opening partner Nigel Gardner 39.

However the visitors found it difficult to up the scoring rate when they needed to and they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.

Neal Collishaw got going with 18 but he was one of three batsmen to fall to Brooke who followed up his batting antics by taking three wickets for one run in the three overs he bowled.

Despite being the beneficiaries of 45 extras, Spalding were unable to get close to the Sleaford total and they were all out for 165 in the 44th overs.
