Saturday football: Five-star Pinchbeck impress, Spalding held and Holbeach defeated

Pinchbeck United grabbed their best win in recent memory after thrashing Newark FC 5-2 on Saturday, while Spalding United drew 1-1 at Sutton Coldfield Town and Holbeach United slipped up 2-0 at home to Long Eaton United.

The headline-grabbers on the day were Pinchbeck, as Enoch Opayinka fired four goals in a day to remember at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Haydn Havard was also on target for Lewis Thorogood’s men, who were also inspired by an impressive debut from Warren Hebblethwaite.

It’s now back-to-back home wins for Pinchbeck in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division North and three games unbeaten, lifting them up to ninth in the table.

In the same division, goals in each half sentenced Holbeach to a 2-0 home loss against leaders Long Eaton at Carter’s Park.

It’s now six league games without a win for Phil Barnes’ side this season and they are 15th.

Up in the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division, Spalding are eighth after their draw at Sutton Coldfield.

Sub Ryan Flitton put Gabriel Zakuani’s side ahead 15 minutes from time, but Alex Smith netted with five minutes left to end’s Spalding’s winning run.

They are back on the road at Ilkeston Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
