Saturday football: Beeson spot-on for Spalding United, ruthless Holbeach United hammer Harrowby

Both South Holland sides impressed at home on Saturday as Spalding United came from behind to beat Chasetown 2-1 and Holbeach United hammered Harrowby United 9-0.

At the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field Josh Ruff fired the visitors ahead of 28 minutes, but Lee Beeson soon levelled with a penalty to make it 1-1 at the break.

Winger Beeson then buried his second penalty of the afternoon midway through the second period to clinch it for the Tulips, with Chasetown having Mitch Piggon sent off for two yellows.

The victory is boss Dave Frecklington’s first ever win over Chasetown as a manager and keeps them second in the table, six points behind leaders Shaw Lane AFC.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United ended their five-game losing streak in style by hammering Harrowby at Carter’s Park.

Josh Ford and Spencer Tinkler both scored hat-tricks for Seb Hayes’ side, while Ollie Pinner and Zak Munton both scored wonder goals. Right back Dan Jenkins also got in on the act with his first goal for the club.

The result sees the Tigers consolidate seventh place in the table.

Elsewhere, Ollie Maltby scored another treble to fire Pinchbeck United to a 6-0 ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division win over Stilton United at Knight Street.

Liam Ogden, Corban Oldham and Jamie Francis also scored for Ian Dunn’s side, who are now third.

Moulton Harrox are above them in second, but lost ground in the title race after drawing 2-2 at Langtoft United.
