Charlea Venters and mum Helen Venters of Charlea’s salon present the cheque to Marie Curie’s Lauren Alexander-Lee.

Salon’s super charity support

A Saracen’s Head salon has presented a large cheque to Marie Curie UK after their best fundraising effort yet.

Charlea’s held its third annual fundraising day for the charity in March and raised a brilliant £823.

It’s the third year the event was held which involved them donating all the money for shampoo and blow drys on the day to the cancer charity.

A host of cakes provided by Epulari Cake Company of Moulton Seas End were on sale and over 200 people brought tickets for a hamper full of goodies from a host of local businesses.

Charlea’s also sold daffodils for the charity though the whole of March.
The business is run by Charlea Venters (21), who said: “We hold this day in memory of our extremely special nan, Connie Kerry who we sadly lost in 2017 at the age of 101.

“Marie Curie nurses made her end of life that little more comfortable for her and her family. She is a massive loss to us and we miss her very much.

“We are extremely touched by people’s generosity including family, friends, clients and local businesses.

“We have raised over £1,500 in the last three years which has provided over 72 hours of end of life care for those needing it most. This year was our best and most successful yet! We are already excited for March 2021.”

Lauren Alexander-Lee, Marie Curie’s fundraising rep for Lincolnshire, popped over to the salon last week.

She said: “It was lovely to meet up with Charlea. They’ve become firm friends of ours now.”
