Pinchbeck United’s Beeson set for debut in Sleaford Town derby

Lee Beeson could make his long-awaited Pinchbeck United debut in Saturday’s derby with Sleaford Town (3pm).

The ex-Spalding United winger, who joined the Knights over the summer, has served his five-match ban and will be gunning to start for the Future Lions UCL Premier Division table-toppers.

Promoted Pinchbeck come into the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field clash on a 31-game unbeaten run in league games, stretching back to 3-2 loss against Olney on September 30 last year.

Player/boss Ian Dunn feels his side deserve to be flying high, but admits that they’re still finding their feet in the UCL’s top flight.

“We’ve had a great start,” said the Knights chief. “It’s cliché, but we’ll just take things one game at a time and not get carried away.

“We’re very much still finding our feet at this level and won’t be looking too far ahead.

“We’ve beaten a few established UCL sides already this season and that has been encouraging – especially as we’ve had so many suspensions.”

Dunn believes that Saturday’s game with fourth-placed Sleaford will prove to be a tricky one, given that their Lincolnshire neighbours display many of the qualities his side possess.

Both sides are famed for their battling qualities, with the Pinchbeck supremo very respectful of the boys from Eslaforde Park.

He added: “It’ll be a very tough game. We’ll not be able to just turn up and expect to beat them, that’s for sure.

“We’ll need to match their hard work and effort. We’ll certainly need to dig in and work hard to get a result.

“They’ve had a very good start and the lads know that they’re in for a battle.”

As well as the return of Beeson, midfielder Nick Bishop is also available again after his ban.

But Chris Shipley is unavailable and Ash Murrell misses out due to going under the knife for an operation on his ankle.

Dunn is also hopeful of adding a new attacking threat to his ranks ahead of the derby, but was unable to reveal his name as we went to press.
