PDFL round-up: Trophy-hunters Harrox seal yet another semi-final date, alleged assault after Sutton loss

Moulton Harrox’s relentless pursuit of silverware this season shows no sign of stopping after they booked a place in the semi-final of the PFA Senior Cup on Saturday.

ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division title favourites Harrox, who have already booked a place in the final of the Lincs FA Junior Cup, beat Deeping Rangers 3-2 at Broad Lane over the weekend.

Goals from Ian Bradbury, Billy King and Joe Townsend secured Moulton’s place in the last four, with Tom Hutton and Troy Waters hitting back for fellow top tier side Deeping.

Moulton, who are still in the President Premier Shield too, return to league action this Saturday with a trip to Sawtry (2pm).

Harrox: Wilding, McGuire, Coddington, Patterson, Johnson, Cawthorne, King, L Steadman, Townsend, Parry, Bradbury. Subs used: Lambe-Hyner, Relf, Watkin. Not used: N Steadman, Groves.

  • Long Sutton Athletic narrowly missed out on joining Harrox in the semi-finals of the PFA Senior Cup after losing a stormy clash against Netherton United 3-2.

The Magpies twice led the last eight tie at London Road, with Matty Oliver and Tom Gosling grabbing the goals.

Zack Fisher, Callum Madigan (penalty) and Robbie Ellis – who grabbed a glorious late winner five minutes from time – notched for Premier Division Netherton, though, with Gosling also sent off for violent conduct.

More was to follow after the final whistle, with Netherton defender James McDonagh suffering an alleged assault in the visiting dressing room which led to police being called.

A Sutton club statement said: “With regards to Saturday’s incident, the club will be taking the appropriate action towards the named player. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated at LSAFC. We will also adhere to the FA’s ruling on this matter.”

  • Sutton Bridge United were handed a 5-1 reverse by ICA Sports in the Premier Division on Saturday, despite a solitary strike from Sam Cooper.

In Division One, Moulton Harrox romped to a huge 12-1 victory at Netherton United Reserves as Declan Earth smashed five.

Also netting trebles were Ryan Wheeler and Martin Sandall, while sub Steve Sinfield notched too.

However, fellow Division One side Tydd St Mary crashed out of the PFA Challenge Cup with a 7-1 loss at lower graded Eye United.

Down in Division Two, Spalding Town were big 4-0 winners at Stilton United thanks to goals from Tommy Coote, Matt Rose, Ash Wilson and Robbie Cundy.

Also winning well away from home were Holbeach Bank in Divison Three.

Goals from Marcus Gilbertson, Lewis Machin and Josh Cross steered Bank to a 3-0 triumph at high-flying Feeder.

Elsewhere, there was a South Holland derby in Division Four – and it was Long Sutton Reserves who took the bragging rights after crushing hosts Tydd St Mary Reserves 5-0.

Calvin Bird, Adam Fitch, Aron John, Shane Millar and Ryan Thorpe all bagged to help the Magpies sink the Saints.

Down in Division Five A, Spalding United A slipped to a 4-1 reverse at Wittering Harriers Reserves despite Carlos Costa’s consolation strike.
