PDFL round-up: Surprise cup exit for Moulton after shoot-out defeat

Moulton Harrox were knocked out of the PFA Senior Cup by ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division rivals Peterborough Polonia on Saturday.

Finalists last season, Harrox were held to a 2-2 draw by their hosts after extra time – but lost the penalty shoot-out 4-3.

Two goals from defender Ashley Coddington weren’t enough for Kev Nottingham’s side, who also had substitute Luke Gardner sent off.

The defeat is the first of the season in any competition for Moulton, who have won all four of their Premier Division games and sit top of the table.

They will hope to gain a measure of revenge when Polonia visit Broad Lane on Saturday for a league clash (2pm).

Also exiting the PFA Senior Cup were Holbeach United Reserves, who came unstuck at home.

They were defeated by top tier rivals Thorney, who claimed a 3-0 victory at Carter’s Park.

Yet to win in any competitive fixture so far this season, the Tigers visit ICA Sports on Saturday (2pm).

In Division One, Crowland Town slipped to a 3-1 home reverse against in-form Wittering Harriers.

Corban Oldham grabbed their only goal at Snowden Field.

Staying in Division One, Spalding Town’s horror start to the season continued with a 13-0 walloping at high-flying Stilton United.

After four league fixtures, Town have no points and a goal difference of -25 after shipping a whopping 29 goals in total.

Down in Division Two, Long Sutton Athletic Reserves picked up a 1-0 victory at Oakham United Reserves.

But Crowland Town slipped up 3-1 at Ketton Reserves in the same division and are still without a win this season.

There was also another heavy loss for Spalding Town Res, as they were thrashed 9-0 at home by Warboys Town.

In Division Three, Holbeach United Sports were on fine form as they smashed Whittlesey Athletic A 7-0.

Joshua Ling starred with a hat-trick, while Steve Barnes, Taylor Beveridge, Harry Collishaw and Lewis Collishaw also got on the scoresheet.

There was also a point for Tydd Reserves, who drew 2-2 at home against Orton Rangers.

Down in Division Four, Holbeach Bank suffered a hefty 10-0 reverse at home against The Limetree.

Spencer Clarke was Limetree’s chief destroyer with a hat-trick, while Reece Campbell, Reegan Martin and Patryk Huzcko all grabbed a brace of goals each.
