PDFL round-up: Derby spoils are shared between Sutton Bridge and Long Sutton

The latest chapter in the rivalry between Sutton Bridge United and Long Sutton Athletic concluded with a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Talismanic striker Matt Eaton was on-target for Bridge in the ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division clash at Memorial Park, with Keegan Thorpe hitting back for the Magpies.

The draw leaves both sides on 23 points, some seven points clear of the bottom two.

At the other end of the table, leaders Moulton Harrox extended their advantage despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Stamford Lions at home.

Declan Earth and Marcus Parry scored for Kev Nottingham’s table-toppers, who are five points clear after Netherton United lost 4-3 at Ketton.

Staying in the top flight, Holbeach United Reserves battled out a thrilling 3-3 draw with ICA Sports at Carter’s Park. Louis Steadman (2) and Jonny Allen got the Tigers’ goals.

The only South Holland side to lose in the top flight was Tydd, who went down 2-1 at Peterborough Sports Development.

Down in Division One, Spalding Town were held to a 3-3 home draw by lowly Kings Cliffe.

Matthew Rose, Ashley Wilson and sub Danny Kingman bagged for Town at Knight Street.

Also picking up a point were Crowland Town, with sub Liam Rigg netting to rescue a 1-1 draw at FC Peterborough.

In Division Two, Whaplode Drove collected a 2-2 draw with Warboys Town to move two points clear of the bottom two.

Meanwhile, Long Sutton Reserves battled out a 2-2 draw with Thorpe Wood Rangers in Division Three.

In a battle between two of the top four, Scott Pemberton’s double grabbed fourth-placed Sutton a point.

Holbeach Bank didn’t fare quite so well, however, as they were beaten 1-0 at rock-bottom Stamford Lions A.

In Division Four, high-flying Holbeach United Sports went down 2-1 at Parkside despite a goal from Callum Davies.

There was drama as Tydd Reserves drew 3-3 with Hampton FC in the same division.

James Woods’ hat-trick was completed by a 97th-minute leveller for the hosts.
