PARTY TIME: Pinchbeck United will get their hands on the UCL Division One trophy again on Tuesday night.

‘Pay what you want’ to see Pinchbeck United lift UCL Division One trophy on Tuesday

Champions Pinchbeck United are hoping to attract a bumper crowd for their final home game of the season – by offering fans the chance to pay what they want to enter.

The Knights will once again get their hands on the ChromaSport UCL Division One trophy after Tuesday night’s Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field clash with Harrowby United (7.45pm).

Entry is usually £3, but there will be no fixed fee on the gate for the campaign’s finale.

Player/boss Ian Dunn said: “The plan is for people to pay what they want on the door. It’s our way of saying thank you to the people who have supported us this season.

“The trophy will be at the ground, so people can get pictures if they want, too.

“We know that we don’t have massive support, but it’d be nice to have as many people as possible at the match this time.”

Before that game, Pinchbeck have a tough trip to Lutterworth Town to negotiate on Saturday (3pm).

Dunn is without at least half of his regular team, with most of them booking holidays and busy with work because the season was originally scheduled to finish on April 21.

They’ve also been low on numbers for two away games this week, but managed to collect four more points to extend their unbeaten run to 25 games.

That started with a 1-1 draw at Irchester United on Tuesday night. Emergency striker Tom Sergeant fired the Knights ahead in the 37th-minute – and for a long period it looked like being the winning goal. However, the hosts netted an equaliser in the fourth minute of added time to deny Pinchbeck their 26th league win of the season.

The Knights then won 1-0 at Stewarts and Lloyds on Thursday thanks to a first-half Liam Ogden strike.

Dunn added: “I’m relieved that we’ve already got over the line. I knew that we’d be low on numbers for these matches.

“I’m having to draft people in left, right and centre. Obviously we’d like to keep our unbeaten run going until the end of the season, but that’s going to be very tricky for us.”
