Ofsted inspectors: Children ‘thrive’ at Spalding nursery

Children “thrive” in the environment of a Spalding nursery and “form close bonds”, according to Ofsted inspectors.

Munchkins Kindergarten, in Priory Road, has been rated “good” in its latest inspection report.

The report said: “Children settle quickly into the nursery and show they are happy.”
It said all children make good progress, the management team monitors children’s progress closely, partnerships with parents are strong and staff successfully involve parents in their children’s care and learning.

Two points were raised to indicate why the nursery, which has 85 children aged 0-4 on its roll, according to the report, is not yet outstanding.

The report said methods for gaining information from parents about children’s starting points are not thorough enough to help staff plan as effectively as possible for children’s individual learning when they first start. It added children who learn best outdoors are not always provided with opportunities to go outdoors and engage in more activities that provide sufficient challenge to promote their interest and enjoyment.
