Nominate your health workers

South Holland and The Deepings MP Sir John Hayes is calling for nominees to enter official NHS Parliamentary awards in recognition of staff “who go above and beyond the call of duty”.

The NHS Parliamentary Awards, sponsored by Fuji Film UK, offer a chance to celebrate NHS staff, carers and volunteers for all the hard work they do to look after loved ones when they are at their most vulnerable.

A spokesman for Sir John said: “So many staff work incredibly hard in their unwavering efforts to put patients first and this is something that the awards aim to reward.”

Sir John is now looking for outstanding nominees for 2020 who have “innovated, impressed and made a real difference to how the health and care system provides care for patients”.

Sir John said: “There is little doubt that the NHS is the nation’s most loved institution and there can be no doubt its staff make it what it is today.

“When I visit our local health services, I see examples of fantastic care that makes a genuine difference, touching lives of people here in South Holland and The Deepings.

“It’s absolutely right that we should celebrate the work staff put into the NHS and want to hear from you about any outstanding care you have received in the last year so that I can nominate our local heroes for these awards.”

Ruth May, Chief Nursing Officer for England, said: “In 2020 the NHS is celebrating the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, which recognises the profession and the care that nurses and midwives offer to patients.

“I would encourage all those who have received high quality care from nurses and midwives, as well as other NHS staff across the health service, to send nominations to their MP to ensure that staff receive the recognition they deserve.”

There are ten categories, including a Lifetime Achievement and Rising Star award to honour those who have devoted their life or career to making the NHS better or are just at the start of their journey of supporting our NHS but have already made significant contributions.”

Sir John Hayes MP is calling for potential nominations in the following categories:

  • The Excellence in Healthcare
  • The Excellence in Mental Health Care Award

  • The Excellence in Primary Care Award supported by Assura PLC
  • NHS Rising Star
