New Spalding and District Table Tennis League season is on the horizon

September has arrived and the summer season is over – so the Spalding and District Table Tennis League is turning its thoughts to the new season.

August turned out to be a mixed month for the league, with some good attendances, but unfortunately below break-even.

This season, there is likely to be 15 teams in total, two down on the end of last season. However, the split is likely to be ten in Division One and five in Division Two.

This means the top flight will meet twice, but the lower tier could probably play four times. These numbers represent 36 players, a slight fall, with ten leaving and seven joining.

One disappointment so far is that only one new junior has appeared.

There is still time for that to change as the programme will start on October 4 – so anyone else wishing to join has another week or two to do so by coming to the Sports Centre or contacting the committee.

Tonight is the league AGM and trophy presentations.

The main discussion will be aimed at improving the week-to-week running of the league, thus avoiding the problems of the last season or so.
