New chief Crozier wants to make Pinchbeck United a more competitive outfit

New Pinchbeck United manager Tom Crozier is looking to build a solid foundation for the club to move forward.

Appointed last week, the former Bourne Town and Boston Town coach led the Knights to a 1-1 draw at Lutterworth Town in his first game as boss on Saturday.

He was happy enough with what he saw at the weekend, but is focused on making the club more competitive after a difficult year or so both on and off the pitch.

Crozier said: “It was disappointing to let in a goal so early and it was a mistake by us that lead to the goal.

“But, bearing in mind this is a new squad and the first time some had played together, overall we were decent and the performance was OK.

“We were happy to come away with a point in the end but also think we created enough chances to win the game.

“Moving forward, our only aim for this season is to become a competitive team and to build a solid foundation for the club – which will involve developing an under-23 team and bringing our youth players through the under-18s and reserves.”

This Saturday sees Crozier take charge of his first home game as chief.
Much-fancied Quorn are the visitors to the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field (3pm), with the new Knights chief confident of getting what would be a surprise result.

“Quorn were a very strong team last season and they have had a decent start,” added Crozier. “But we believe, with the squad we now have in place, that we can compete with any team in the league and we hope to come away with a result.”

Crozier added that former caretaker boss Alfie Tate will remain at the club, but that he may look to bring in a more experienced number two.

He said: “At the moment Alfie is a coach at the club and there will be a little bit of restructuring regarding management, which may involve an experienced number two coming in the coming weeks.

“Alfie is a great asset at the club and what he did as the caretaker manager at a young age gives him a wealth of experience going forward.”
