Miles takes route 66 to seal April Medal at Surfleet

Miles Foden continued his fine start to the season by winning the April Medal in Spalding Golf Club’s men’s section.

The 11 handicapper shot a nett 66 to win the Surfleet competition on countback from Wayne Flowers(14 handicap).

Some 149 golfers took to the course in what was always going to be a very competitive event.

The best of the rest were: 68 – Mark Jones (8); 70 – Peter Clark (7), Rob Stimson (11); 71 – Keith Hearne (2), James Crampton (-1); 72 – Simon Gray (11), John Camm (17).
‘Shot of the day’ was from Westcombe Trophy holder Steve Warboys.

Playing out of the bunker on the 18th in front of a busy clubhouse, he managed to thin the ball and propel it so hard that the glass in the bar window almost came out of its frame. That successfully scattered the gallery and left his Saturday competition hoodoo intact with a creditable two over finish.
