Mark of approval for Holbeach school’s English and geography departments

The English and geography departments at University Academy Holbeach have received a stamp of approval.

They have been issued with the Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) Mark.

To become members of the PTI’s Schools Programme, departments must demonstrate their commitment to increasing teachers’ subject knowledge, and to furthering their students’ understanding of and enthusiasm for the subject, regardless of their background or ability.

And to achieve the mark, departments have to:
demonstrate that they have increased the challenge within their subject curriculum
develop their staff’s own specialist subject knowledge
develop subject-based links outside school
enthused pupils through subject-based activities beyond the curriculum.

Headteacher Steve Baragwanath said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the PTI Mark for our geography and English departments’ innovative work, and will be proud to carry the mark on our stationery and website as evidence of our commitment to inspirational teaching.”
