Marian celebrates 40 years in ‘challenging career’ at Spalding firm

When Marian Boxall started a new job as a receptionist in 1969 she never imagined she would be working for the same firm her entire working life.

However, she is now celebrating 40 years working for accountants Moore Thompson, at its Spalding office.

She first began working for Stephenson Smart in May 1969 working from 3B Market Place in Spalding for the late Tony Moore as a receptionist and typist. She carried on working for Stephenson Smart for three more years and then left for 18 months when she had her first child.

In 1975 she returned to Stephenson Smart and started work again as an audit clerk from their new offices at Bank House. Shortly after re-joining, the firm renamed itself Moore & Price, before merging in 1988 with Thompson & Co. and became known as Moore Thompson.

When the firm began to regularly use computers in 1982 Marian took over much of the practice’s IT tasks, becoming Moore Thompson’s IT manager.

Marian Boxall said: “I have seen a lot of changes and it has been a very challenging career.

“I have made some very good friends and have been given many different opportunities to change roles.

“Throughout my time at the firm I have felt extremely valued and it has been really rewarding. I look forward to spending many more years with Moore Thompson and hope to continue providing an excellent service to all of our clients.”

Mark Hildred, managing partner at Moore Thompson, said: “Marian is an essential part of the Moore Thompson team and it is my great pleasure to congratulate her on completing 40 years of service with the firm.

“Our staff at Moore Thompson are one of our most precious resources. I hope that many of our other staff will see the achievement made by Marian and hope to replicate them in the way they work.”
