Manufacturing firm George Barnsdale celebrates 130 years in Donington

A manufacturing business renowned for the quality of its timber products has celebrated 130 years in Donington.

George Barnsdale threw a birthday bash at its High Street site last Saturday.
The event brought together three generations of the Barnsdale family, alongside past and present members of staff and their families.

South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes attended to offer his congratulations on 130 years of successful manufacturing.

Managing director Stephen Wright said: “George Barnsdale is today regarded as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of premium timber windows and doors.
“As we’ve grown, we’ve been able to continually invest in our Donington factory and we remain committed to helping the local community through groups such as IDEA (Improving the Donington Enviroment for All) and Flinders Founders.
“We look forward to the next 130 years!”

The family-owned business seeks to continually invest in its Donington factory and has just submitted expansion plans to South Holland District Council.

George Barnsdale prides itself on growing local talent through apprenticeships and engineering graduate schemes.
The business also remains committed to using local suppliers where possible.

For the anniversary event, it worked with Whaplode St Catherine’s Bluebell Brewery to produce the ‘Old George’ brew and Boston-based Chocolate Fairy Catering to create a celebration cake.
