Majestic Majeed makes another ton as Spalding Town cruise to emphatic victory

Another century from Hafiz Majeed fired Spalding Town to a huge 186-run win over Billingborough in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division on Saturday.

Playing at number three, Pakistan all-rounder Majeed made 107 in Town’s huge 310-3 batting first at Boro’.

Josh Newton (65), Warren Nel (54 not out) and Ben Smith (53 not out) also chipped in with half-centuries to give Spalding maximum batting points.

In reply, Dan Milgate (4-24), Majeed (3-39) and Jimmy Hook (3-15) starred with the ball to dismiss the hosts for 124 in 32.5 overs and keep Town top of the table.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Long Sutton dropped into the relegation zone after a 38-run loss against Market Deeping 2nd at Outgang Road.

The hosts made 248-9 batting first, with Sutton bowled out for 210.

In Division One, Simon Juckes top scored with 70 not out as Spalding Town 2nd beat Heckington by 130 runs at the Memorial Field.

Brandon Andrews (35) and Steven Rushworth (32) also scored well in Town’s 228-7, before they skittled Heckington out for 98.

Juckes (3-21) and Jon Manton (3-17) were the pick of the bowlers for Town, who remain top of the table.

Down in Division Two, Pinchbeck slipped to an 86-run loss against Belton Park 2nd at Spalding Grammar School.

Nick Crook’s 3-45 couldn’t stop the visitors posting 186-5 batting first, a target Pinchbeck never looked like surpassing.

Danny Jackson (20) and James Langford (20) both scored well, but they slipped to 100 all out.
