The Spalding and District branch of the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers celebrated a number of the volunteers that help it continue.

Long-serving volunteers thanked

Volunteers who have helped hundreds of young people in the district have been thanked for their long service.

For the first time in 18 months the Spalding and District branch of the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers were able to get together to celebrate those who have reached long service milestone with their respective organisations.

Among those being celebrated are Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers are Diane Ridgeley (30 years), Amanda Baggott, Carol Rowett, Lorraine Derrick (all 20 years), Becky Marshall (15 years) and Chloe Stanley (five years).

A special afternoon tea was held recently at The Kitchen at Springfields Shopping Outlet where the volunteers were officially thanked and district commissioner, Carole Baker, got to present leaders with long service awards that should have been presented during the Covid lockdown.

Carole said: “These awards are very special and represent the hard work and commitment our leaders, who volunteer their own time, give to young girls in our district.

“They help our girls to become independent achievers and provide them with life skills that will help their journey into the adult world.

“The awards ranged from five years to 30 years, each leader gaining a well deserved certificate and brooch.

“I’m so proud of the district and all the volunteers and girls that make it such a huge success.”

Chloe Stanley gets her reward.
