Joof’s Holbeach United Reserves up to third after Sawtry success

Holbeach United Reserves climbed up to third in the ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division with a 2-1 win at Sawtry on Saturday.

Billy Radeloff (pen) and Keiron Rose got the goals for Omar Joof’s side – who are just a point behind co-leaders Moulton Harrox and Peterborough Sports Reserves.

In Division One, in-form Sutton Bridge United are fourth after a 5-3 victory at ICA Sports Reserves.

Matt Eaton, Jake Lally, Barry Osborn, Joseph Sutton and Kieren Lally notched to make it six wins on the spin for the Bridge boys.

Division Two side Spalding Town made progress in the Intermediate Shield with a 4-0 home win over Netherton United A.

Tomasz Rabiega bagged a brace for Chris Page’s charges, while Marcus Parry and Andrew Williams also netted.

In Division Three, Tydd St Mary came from a goal down to beat Baston 4-2.

The visitors went ahead from a scruffy goal, but the Saints levelled after 39 minutes when a Nick Reims free kick was bundled in by Will Kirkham.

Baston re-took the lead just five minutes after the restart, but Tim Lowe hauled Tydd level again with a penalty.

Man-of-the-match Daniel Piccaver then superbly flicked Tydd into the lead, before Jake Jones settled it in added time.

Meanwhile, Aaron Fitch’s strike earned Long Sutton Athletic a 1-0 derby win over Tydd St Mary Reserves in Division Four.

In the League Shield, sub Lee Hunt grabbed the only goal to give Holbeach Bank a 1-0 win over FC Peterborough.

But Whaplode Drove are out after going down 5-2 at South Holland rivals Sutton Bridge United Reserves.

Lewis Eyre and Raymond Points both notched doubles at Memorial Park, while Jamie Griffin rounded off the rout.

Also out of the League Shield are Holbeach United A, who crashed 7-3 at Stanground Sports Reserves.

Ryan Foster-Smith smashed five of the seven goals for the victorious home side.
